lol Alright the fix is to lower down some of the graphics settings, see WAY below this thread. The lag is coming from terrains that are far away due to the draw distance being maxed it. This is why when you are in a certain area, you are wondering why there is lag. Since textures that are far away will be loaded, this will add more stress on your graphics card and your hard drive. Lower down or turn off the Draw Distance. It is a very good idea to do a Diagnostic Startup because operating systems especially Vista have a way when it accesses the hard drive randomly!ģ. So really, there is a process running in the background that's slowing down the system. It's when the hard drive access light stops blinking when everything is back to normal. I realized that sometimes my hard drive reads constantly and it lags my SA even when I am in one place. Running San Andreas in Safe Mode isn't going to work because there will be no DirectX/Direct3D/DDraw support, and is not similar to what MSConfig does! *NOTE*: This is a very important step.

Select "Diagnostic Startup" and make sure to enable only the processes and services that allows your video card and sound card drivers to work. Or if you already have a dual core processor, 1-2GBs of RAM, and a mid-high end graphics card, then consider upgrading your hard drive to a WD Raptor X 10000RPM SATA.Ģ. Also go into Task Manager, click "Processes" tab and end a process that's using up CPU usage in the CPU column except for "svchost.exe, System, System Idle Process, explorer.exe, winlogin.exe, and gta_sa.exe"ġ. ALT-TAB out of gameplay or press on the Windows key on your keyboard and end all non-essential processes (especially Antivirus/Spyware) in the background. Restart computer (don't try to log out and back in thinking it has the safe effect - it doesn't).

So I decided to show you how to make it go away and how to avoid it.ġ.
When this happens, there is something in Task Manager that's taking up CPU usage. Also, the game is struggling to maintain 25fps. Many people have noticed while driving in certain parts of San Andreas that there's random lag even when all the display settings are to the lowest on a super-fast computer.
